Reading Notes: Apache Part A

 Coyote and Porcupine

Coyote: a very smart trickster, thinks that he can outsmart anyone. After Porcupine had killed the Buffalo, the coyote tricked him into letting him butcher the Buffalo. After he had given porcupine some Buffalo intestines, Coyote killed him. Soon after, Coyote is tricked into climbing a tree to get some food. Once Coyote had climbed the tree, porcupine kicked the branch and killed him.

Porcupine: a good trickster, but also very susceptible to being tricked. He tricked the buffalo into letting him ride inside of his body across the river. After he got in, the porcupine punctured one of the buffalo’s major arteries which killed him. Coyote then tricked porcupine into letting him butcher the buffalo, and ended up killing him. Porcupine gets his revenge by ultimately knocking coyote out of a tree, killing him.

Hollywood Cast: Porcupine: Will Smith, Coyote: Tom Hanks

Setting: This story takes place in a western setting. I think picture the scenery in old western movies as the backdrop for this story.
