Reading Notes: Persian Tales Part A

 The Wolf and the Goat

The Goat: very caring for her children, very clever, isn’t selfish, gave the knife-grinder a sack of butter to sharpen his horns so he could defeat the wolf

The Wolf: very greedy, is very sneaky but is eventually outsmarted and defeated due to his arrogance and selfishness.

The Dentist: sees through the greediness of the wolf after he opens his gift, so he replaces the wolf’s sharp teeth with cotton.

Hollywood Setting: I think if this story was made into a movie, Tim Curry would play the wolf and Kathy Bates would play the mother goat.

Plot: I like how this story is kind of like a coyote trickster story in some ways. The wolf and the mother goat both try to outsmart each other to decide the fate of the goat’s children. Ultimately, greed cost the wolf to lose this fight and his life. The goat outsmarts the wolf to save her children.
